Patient Rights

As part of Team 1’s mission and vision, our focus is on respecting and serving our community with the highest standards of emergency medical care, addressing the needs of patients while considering their rights, as well as the rights of their families, and upholding their dignity, privacy, and the confidentiality of their information.

Children and patients who are unable to exercise their rights must be represented by their legal guardian or legal representatives in accordance with the law.

Patients have the right to:

  • Receive clear and concise information about their rights and responsibilities during ambulance transportation.
  • Be informed about the expected level of care they will receive.
  • Be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their background, culture, or medical condition.
  • Have their privacy and the confidentiality of their information protected during all interactions and transportation processes, ensuring that all discussions related to patient care are conducted in a manner that respects their privacy.
  • Be informed and involved in decisions regarding their healthcare.
  • Be free from discrimination of any kind, including race, gender, religion, ethnicity, disability, or other factors.
  • The medical team should introduce themselves and display their identification badges clearly and appropriately.
  • Have complaints handled promptly and transparently, with confidentiality maintained as necessary.
  • Be informed about the policies and regulations of Team1 that pertain to them as patients.
  • Refuse some or all aspects of care, with the requirement to sign a refusal of treatment form, and have the consequences of refusal explained to them and their family, with their wishes respected.
  • Have the care provided to them documented accurately, including any discussions, interventions, and communications related to their rights.

Patient Responsibilities:

The patient is responsible for:

  • Disclosing any information related to their current health condition, past illnesses, previous hospitalizations, and any other matters related to their health.
  • Understanding the treatment plan and what is expected of them.
  • Following the treatment plan/instructions recommended by the medical team at Team1.
  • Being aware of and considering all the rights of the ambulance team.
  • Respecting all members of the medical team and refraining from tampering with the ambulance property.
